Messages and Announcements
Tawaasal keeps you informed about school news through announcements and lets you communicate directly with your teachers through the messaging feature.

Viewing Announcements

Navigate to Announcements from the sidebar (or check your dashboard for recent announcements).

You will see a list of announcements from your school, showing:
- A category badge (for example Administrative, General, or Academic)
- Title
- Date published
- Summary or preview text

Click on any announcement to read the full details, including any attached files.
Announcements may be school-wide (for all students) or targeted to specific classes or grade levels. Use Filters to narrow the list, or Refresh to check for new items.
- Open Filters to narrow the announcements list.
- Each announcement shows its category badge, title, summary, author and publish date.
- Refresh checks for new announcements.
Check the announcements page regularly so you do not miss important school news such as schedule changes, event reminders, or exam information.
Messages
Viewing Your Messages
- Navigate to Messages from the sidebar.
- You will see a list of your conversations, sorted by the most recent message, under the Inbox and Archived tabs.
- Click on a conversation to read the full message thread.
Unread conversations will be highlighted so you can easily spot new messages.
- Click New Message to start a conversation.
- The Inbox tab lists your active conversations.
- The Archived tab holds conversations you have filed away.
Sending a Message to a Teacher
- Click the New Message button.
- Select the Teacher you want to message. You can also filter the recipient list by role (Teacher, Guardian, Student, Admin, or Staff) or search by name or email.
- Type your message (up to 5,000 characters).
- Click Send.
- Search for a recipient by name or email.
- Filter the list to Teacher...
- ...or another role, such as Guardian.
Replying to Messages
- Open a conversation.
- Type your reply in the message box at the bottom.
- Click Send.
Messages are part of the school's communication record. Be polite and respectful when writing to teachers. Use messages for school-related topics only.
Notifications
Depending on your school's settings, you may receive notifications when:
- A new announcement is published.
- A teacher sends you a message.
- A teacher replies to a conversation.
Check your Preferences to manage how you receive notifications.
Tips
- Read announcements promptly — Important information about exams, events, or schedule changes is often shared through announcements.
- Ask for help — If you do not understand a homework assignment or need academic support, send a message to your teacher. They are there to help.
- Check messages daily — Make it a habit to check your inbox so you do not miss replies from teachers.
- Be clear and specific — When messaging a teacher, clearly state your question or concern so they can help you effectively.
