Children's Merit Points

Tawaasal's merit system lets you see the points your children have earned for positive behaviour and academic achievements, as well as any behaviour points recorded. You can track their progress, view earned milestones, and monitor their standing.

Viewing Merit Points

1. Navigate to Children's Merit in the sidebar.
2. If you have more than one child, you will see a card for each. Click a child's card to open their full profile.
3. Each child's card shows:
   • Merit Points — Positive points earned this academic year.
   • Behaviour Points — Negative points recorded this academic year.
   • Recent Activity — How many awards were recorded in the last 30 days.
   • A trophy count of milestones earned.

Opening a child's card shows their full profile: lifetime totals, rank, next milestone progress, earned badges, and a filterable history of every award (last 24 hours, week, month, term, year, or all time).

Award History

On a child's profile, you can see a detailed history of all awards, including:

• Category — The type of award (e.g., "Academic Excellence", "Good Behaviour", "Late to Class").
• Points — The number of points awarded or deducted.
• Awarded By — The teacher who gave the award.
• Date — When the award was recorded.
• Notes — Any comments the teacher included.

Understanding Categories

Merit categories (positive) reward good behaviour and achievements. Demerit categories (negative) record behavioural issues. Both are visible so you have a complete picture of your child's record.

Milestones

Your school may set milestone achievements that students earn automatically when their merit balance reaches certain thresholds. For example:

• Bronze Award — 50 points
• Silver Award — 100 points
• Gold Award — 200 points

When your child earns a milestone, it will be displayed with a badge. Milestones are earned once per academic year.

Leaderboard

Depending on your school's settings, a leaderboard may show how your child's merit balance compares to other students. The visibility options are:

• Public — All positions and names are visible.
• Anonymised — Rankings are visible but names are hidden.
• Own Position Only — Only your child's rank is shown.
• Staff Only — The leaderboard is not visible to students or guardians.

Not All Schools Show Leaderboards

If you do not see a leaderboard, your school has chosen not to display it to guardians. You can still see your child's individual points and milestones.

Tips

• Celebrate achievements — When your child earns merit points or reaches a milestone, acknowledge their effort at home.
• Discuss behaviour points constructively — If your child receives behaviour points, talk to them about what happened and how they can improve. Avoid being punitive — use it as a learning opportunity.
• Check regularly — Review your child's merit record weekly to stay informed about their behaviour and achievements at school.
• Talk to teachers — If you have questions about specific awards or want to understand your child's behaviour at school better, use the Messages feature to reach out to their teacher.
