Monitoring Progress
Tawaasal gives you a comprehensive view of your children's academic life. From homework and grades to attendance and merit points, you can stay informed and involved in your child's education.
Homework
View all homework assigned to your children:
- Navigate to Children's Homework from the sidebar.
- You will see a list of assignments across all your children, showing:
- Assignment title and subject
- Child's name (if you have multiple children)
- Due date
- Submission status (Not Submitted, Submitted, Overdue)
- Click on any assignment to see the full details, including the teacher's instructions and any attached files.
- Children’s Homework in the sidebar opens this page.
- Filter to assignments that are Not Submitted.
- Filter to assignments that are Overdue.
- Filter to assignments already Submitted.
Check this page regularly to see what your children are working on and whether they have submitted their work on time.
Grades
Track your children's academic results:
- Navigate to Children's Grades from the sidebar.
- Select the child you want to view (if you have multiple children).
- See grades organized by subject, including:
- Individual assessment scores (quizzes, tests, exams, projects)
- Subject averages
- How scores map to the grading scale
Report Cards
When report cards are published at the end of a term:
- Navigate to Children's Grades from the sidebar.
- Click the Children's Report Cards tab.
- Use the filters (year, term, class, status) to find the report card you want, then click View Report Card to see the full report, including:
- Grades for all subjects
- Teacher comments
- Attendance summary
- Overall indicators
- Children’s Grades in the sidebar opens the grades area.
- The Children’s Report Cards tab switches to published report cards.
- Use the Filters to narrow by year, term, class or status.
- View Report Card opens the full report for that student.
Attendance
Monitor your children's daily attendance:
- Navigate to Children's Attendance from the sidebar to see recent absence alerts.
- Select a child to open their attendance history.
- See the attendance record showing each day's status:
- Present — Your child attended school.
- Absent — Your child was not in school.
- Late — Your child arrived after the expected time.
- Excused — Your child had an approved absence.
- Children’s Attendance in the sidebar opens recent absence alerts.
- Use Select Child to open a specific child’s attendance history.
- Browse other months of the calendar with the arrow controls.
Depending on your school's notification settings, you may receive an alert when your child is marked absent. Check your Preferences to ensure notifications are enabled for attendance.
Merit Points
See merit points your children have earned:
- Navigate to Children's Merit from the sidebar.
- View the total points for each child and a detailed history, including:
- The teacher who awarded the points
- The category (academic achievement, good behaviour, etc.)
- The number of points
- The date
School Fees and Payments
Manage your financial obligations:
- Navigate to My Fees from the sidebar.
- View outstanding invoices for each child.
- Click View Details on an invoice to see the full details and payment options.
- Complete online payments through the secure payment portal.
- My Fees in the sidebar opens this page.
- Filter to invoices that are Pending.
- Filter to invoices that are Overdue.
- View Details opens the full invoice and payment options.
After a successful payment, you will see a payment confirmation page. Keep this for your records.
Parents Evening Bookings
When a parents evening is scheduled:
- You will see the event listed in the Events area.
- Click View on the event to open it, then select an available time slot to book directly.
- Choose a slot that works for you from the ones marked available.
- Your booked appointments will be confirmed with the teachers.
Trip Consent Forms
When your child's school organizes a trip:
- You will receive a notification about a pending consent form.
- Navigate to the consent form from the notification or the events area.
- Review the trip details (destination, dates, costs, requirements).
- Click Give Consent or Decline Consent for your child's participation.
Announcements and Communication
Stay informed about school news:
- Announcements — Check the announcements page for school-wide and guardian-specific news.
- Messages — Use the messaging feature to communicate directly with teachers and school staff.
Tips
- Enable notifications — Turn on email or push notifications in your Preferences so you are alerted to new homework, grades, absences, and announcements.
- Check in weekly — Even a brief weekly review of homework, grades, and attendance helps you stay connected to your child's progress.
- Respond to consent forms promptly — Schools often have deadlines for trip consent. Submit your response as soon as you receive the form.
- Communicate with teachers — If you have concerns about your child's progress, use the Messages feature to reach out to their teachers.
- Pay fees on time — Keep an eye on invoice due dates to avoid late payment complications.
