Messages and Announcements
Tawaasal helps you stay connected with your children's school through direct messaging with teachers and school staff, and through school announcements.
Announcements
Viewing Announcements
-
Navigate to Announcements from the sidebar (or check your dashboard for recent announcements).
-
You will see a list of announcements from the school, showing:

If you have a concern about your child's progress, behaviour, or wellbeing, sending a direct message to their teacher is the fastest way to start a conversation.
Managing Conversations
- Mute — If a conversation generates too many notifications, mute it. You will still see new messages but will not receive push or email alerts for that conversation.
- Archive — Keep your inbox tidy by archiving conversations you no longer need.
Conversation Types
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Direct Message | One-to-one conversation between you and a teacher or administrator. |
| Class Broadcast | A message from a teacher to all guardians in a class. You can receive these but they are created by teachers. |
| Admin Broadcast | A message from the school administrator to targeted groups. |
Notifications
Depending on your school's settings, you may receive alerts when:
- A new announcement is published.
- A teacher sends you a message.
- Someone replies to an existing conversation.
Check your Preferences to manage how you receive notifications (email, push notification, or in-app).
Tips
- Check messages regularly — Teachers may reach out about your child's progress, homework, or behaviour. Timely responses help maintain a strong school-home partnership.
- Be specific — When messaging a teacher, mention your child's name and the topic so the teacher can respond effectively.
- Use announcements as reminders — School announcements often contain important dates and deadlines. Note them down when you read them.
- Keep it professional — Messages are part of the school's communication record. Be respectful and focused on school-related topics.
